Tech-Hounds were created during WWII when chemicals were often tested- mainly as weapons. They began to test of animals and accidently created a mutated species. The canines they used grew upwards of 4 to 6 foot at the shoulder and between 950 to 1400 lbs. They developed muscle mass and the crushing jaws of a hyena. From behind bars, these creatures learned the ways of the humans. During the war, one of the labs got bombed and a few hounds escaped. At the time, hunting them down wasn't a priority, considering the war. The escaped hounds bred and created packs around the world. Given their monstrous size, powerful muscles and jaws, the hounds flourished. But they did not go unseen.
Soon people began to seek them out for their brightly colored pelts to wear as the perfect fashion statement in night clubs. Everyone wanted a pelt that would glow under neon light. Soon the name 'Tech-Hounds' came to be. As they were hunted, they became rare, until only one small pack was left. However, this pack kept well away from the humans and soon blossomed- they bred and surviving hounds from the other packs joined together. Many established wolf packs and even a cat clan made alliance with the beasts for protection- both from enemies and the hounds themselves. Everyone feared the massive creatures and their unique saliva that could cause hallucinations. The ideal kill for a hound is to bite the prey, toy with them as they hallucinate their worst fears, and then kill them.
The pack has moved territories quite a bit. They started off in the forest when the first packs were formed. The humans soon found them and attempted to capture and even kill the hounds- by the time they moved territories, there was only one pack left. They ended up moving far away from the humans and anyone else for that matter, they moved to the coast. They lived off fish, aquatic animals, and the rare creatures that happened to step foot in Tech-Hound territory. The situation was certainly not ideal, but at least they were away from the humans. They lived on the shore for several years before there was an oil spill caused by the humans. Due to their prey dying off and being poisoned by the oil, they were forced to move yet again. This time, they moved back into a thick forest alongside a mountain range. To this day, the pack resides in the forest.
Over time, their pelts grew darker. Generally a modern day hound is seen with a dark base coat and neon markings, rather then being solid neon as their ancestors were. They still have a mane along their back and many of the hounds still have neon features other then markings- such as mouths, noses, eyes, and manes. The Tech-Hounds are currently led by a pair of twins named Razzle and Dazzle- who are descendants of Mindtrip, who created the first Tech-Hound pack, and Nocturna, who moved the pack after the oil spill.
